Monarch Racing Quarterly Update

Team News

2025 is well underway, with the Elite Team competing at Valley of the Sun in February, and our Development team racing multiple local races across NorCal.

The Elite team locked in a Top 10 at Valley of the Sun but will be looking for more heading into one of the ultimate pro stage races in the country - Redlands Bicycle Classic in April.

Many of the Development team riders have already upgraded their road categories, and have brought home nearly a dozen podiums so far! For many of these riders, this is the first time they have ever competed on road bikes, and they are jumping into fields up to 50 deep, racing against women more than twice their age. Their success and eagerness is a testament to the support from all of YOU that encourages them in all of life’s adventures. Thank you.

While our Development riders have enjoyed large women’s fields, some of the age group junior fields are smaller and often combined with the boys. Many immediately assume that the boys will always be faster, but we were pleased (and not surprised!) to have junior 13-14 year old Sophia Avery place 3rd amongst the boys at the Copperopolis Road Race!

Sponsor Highlights

It takes a village, and Monarch Racing would not be here without the trust and belief of our sponsors. This month, we’re highlighting two of our founding sponsors - and the incredible folks behind the brands who saw the future of Monarch Racing before it existed, and said, “Yes, we will support that.”

Poggio

Poggio is an AI company building an account intelligence platform for enterprise revenue teams. The name Poggio refers to the Poggio di San Remo, the iconic climb of Milan-San Remo, and a nod to the journey of building an enduring company.

“We're proud to support Monarch Racing in their mission to grow women's cycling in the US.”

A note from Helena, Monarch Racing founder, is that Poggio took the initiative and reached out to Helena about supporting Monarch Racing’s mission before the team was fully in existence. This gesture was appreciated, and we look forward to a strong ongoing partnership and the success of both Poggio and Monarch Racing in the future.

Mr. Dewie’s

Founded in 2011, brothers Ari and Andrew Cohen of Berkeley, CA, created Mr. Dewie’s cashew milk ice cream with the mission to make a delicious ice cream that met their dietary needs of being dairy-free, gluten-free, and soy-free. All their ingredients are natural, organic, and with no fillers, additives, preservatives, gums or oils!

As a proud member of the small business community, Mr. Dewie’s has always been passionate about supporting local youth sports. As Andrew explains, “To give back to the communities that support us, we participate in various sponsorships. When a good friend of mine, who is deeply involved in the local bicycle scene, told me about Monarch Racing, an all-women’s bicycle team, we were thrilled to offer our support. We are incredibly proud to support the Monarchs as they continue to grow and achieve new milestones!

One way that Mr. Dewie’s supports us is by providing their high-protein, rich, creamy, and delicious athletic recovery food—Mr. Dewie’s Cashew Ice Cream! With a 4:1 carb-to-protein ratio, this product is an ideal recovery food, free of the typical ingredients that can upset the stomach after a tough workout.

We hope that you will go try Mr. Dewie’s ice cream yourself, and let us know what your favorite flavor is! And if you take a photo of yourself with their ice cream, we’ll share it!
